It’s worth noting that given the very high probability of a world-wide slowdown, and likely recession in the United States, reading things like this is extremely worrisome.
The light that the end of the tunnel could easily be a freight train.
NOW is the time to cut government waste – as Denis has done a good job pointing out, RFID and other multi-million dollar projects (emissions control, etc.) are solutions looking for problems – which is to say that the solutions cost society more (in taxes from government spending, wasted time, wasted construction resources, etc) than we get out of them.
